About Nakeyshaey:
While feeling misunderstood and abandoned, in 1992, I learned that our society has an overwhelming
tendency to blame young people for its social ills and problems. Determined to overcome my own trials as
an emancipated minor and adolescent single parent, I vowed to get REAL and get it together so that I could
actively advocate for youth, young adults, youth culture, families, and people of color.
Today, I am affectionately known as the Hip-Hop Therapist™ - The REALTalk Coach. I am a married
mother of four, a entrepreneur, international social work consultant, social therapist, trainer, published
author, life coach, public speaker, and the Founder and CEO of the Hip-Hop Therapy Project, LLC (HHTP)
and REALTalk Enterprises (RTE).
Established in 2004, the HHTP is a social and educational wellness center that uses Hip-Hop music and
Culture, along with traditional therapeutic and educational concepts, to Engage, Educate, Understand, Heal,
and Unite those who embrace, embody, enjoy, and are most affected by Hip-Hop. HHTP recently
established a foundation that supports non profit organizations that utilizes Hip-Hop music and culture in
their youth programs.
Established in 2007, RTE is a specialized Social Wellness Coaching, Training, and Consulting firm that
facilitates mature and REAL interventions designed to produce satisfying career and life adjustments for
youth, young adults, families, and the helping professionals that provide services to them. RTE developed
out of response to the lack of REAL dialogue around the REAL socioeconomic, legal, cultural, educational,
emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues that continuously impact youth, young adults, and people
of color. The key to RTE's success is a multi step PROCESS to PROGRESS system that fosters a REAL
connection with all participants and encourages them to receive and retain the REAL information that is
being offered. Additionally, RTE contends that our approach to practice allows for the freedom of creative
expression that engages participants in a way that one might not see during a traditional intervention. RTE’
s subsidiaries are “The Office of The Hip-Hop Therapist™, The REALTalk Coach, The Hip-Hop Therapy
Project, and The Hip-Hop Therapy Foundation”.
As the Hip-Hop Therapist™, I am unlike no other. I have worked with thousands of youth, young adults,
families, and helping professionals all across this country and abroad. I'm the one to come when one is in
need of someone to give REAL Talk, REAL Listening, and REAL Solutions on career, relationships, fears,

training and stay up to date with social work trends as a certified Field Faculty Instructor for the University

Throughout the past 15 years I have worked as an Advocate for youth and young adults in foster care and
delinquent programs. Additionally, I have worked with teachers, youth workers, social workers, churches,
police, community organizers, and parents in their understanding and the developing of their knowledge,
value, and skills in working with today's youth and young adults. Some of my professional roles have been
in Foster Care Administration, Organizational Development, Mental Health, Program Direction,
Supervisory, Training and Development, Social Work, and Case Management. Now in private practice for

exciting career path I have chosen.
In addition to my extensive work with private and public service agencies in the States of Wisconsin,
Illinois, and California, I am a contract trainer with a host of entities providing continuing education units
(CEU's) for their agency staff. I also privately train and coach helping professionals (particularly social
workers, teachers, probation agents, DCFS case managers, and youth workers) throughout the country on
how to work with high risk youth and sustain cultural competency in their practice.
In 2005, I was awarded the Dr. MLK Jr. Community Service and Leadership Award by Loyola University.
Also in 2005, I was awarded the Scholarship, Loyalty, and Service Award by Alpha Sigma Nu. This honor
was further commemorated with an induction into the National Jesuit Honor Society. I am a current
