About Nakeyshaey:

Nakeyshaey M. Tillie-Allen, affectionately known as "The Hip-Hop Therapist ™",is a entrepreneur,
national social work consultant, licensed social therapist, life coach, published author, and the Founder
and CEO of the Hip-Hop Therapy Project, LLC (HHTP).  The HHTP is a social wellness center that
utilizes Hip-Hop music and culture, along with psycho-therapeutic and psycho-educational concepts, to
serve as a culturally sensitive catalyst for personal and collective change for those who embody,
embrace, enjoy, and are most affected by Hip-Hop.  The HHTP also serves as a resource for agencies,
institutions, communities, and helping professionals that seek to reach out and engage youth and young
adults.

While feeling misunderstood and abandoned, in 1992, Nakeyshaey learned that our society has an
overwhelming tendency to blame youth for its social ills and problems.  Determined to overcome her
own trials and tribulations as an emancipated minor and adolescent single parent, she vowed that
throughout her life that she would actively advocate for youth and youth culture.  Today, Nakeyshaey
M. Tillie-Allen, affectionately known as the Hip-Hop Therapist ™ is a married mother of four.  She has
over 13 years of experience working with youth and adults in collaboration with various social, human,
and community service agencies all throughout the country, but strategically in the Greater Milwaukee
and Chicagoland areas.  Ms. Tillie-Allen is highly skilled in the areas of high-risk adolescent and adult
programming and services.  She has trained dozens of helping professionals in cultural competency,
youth work, life skills, and professional development.  She has also counseled and coached hundreds of
individuals and families during their tough times, and helped and supported them as they maneuvered
through those life issues and struggles.

Ms. Tillie-Allen's commitment is towards fostering skills and knowledge that enhances the quality of
life and well being of those being serviced.  Ms. Tillie-Allen is very motivated in building and
empowering individuals and families.  She believes that the key to this is upholding cultural competency
and sensitivity in all levels of practice.  She is known to challenge the norm, especially in search of the
truth; as well as to advocate for others, especially those who find it difficult to advocate for themselves.

Fostering the Person In Environment (PIE) Theory, Ms. Tillie-Allen believes that ones social, cultural,
and environmental development, along with their self identity, creates different truths for different
people.  This approach to practice is especially highly effective when it comes to working with the high-
risk populations.  It gives meaning to their story, as well as an insight that fosters new ways of thinking,
methodologies for learning, practice, competence, relations, and outcomes for helping professionals-
hence - Hip-Hop Therapy ®.

Ms. Tillie-Allen has thoroughly researched the validity of the approach Hip-Hop Therapy ®.  She has
developed the approach so now that it is a licensable product and trains other helping professionals and
agencies on how to use the approach.  Because of the diversity and complexities of Hip-Hop's
constituents, culture, and music - the approach of Hip-Hop Therapy ® has taken on different meanings,
but has remained very inclusive of the culture, ideals, innovations, and people of Hip-Hop.  Her current
research efforts involve exploring Hip-Hop Therapy ® with the old school and new school generations
of Hip-Hop.

Ms. Tillie-Allen has used Hip-Hop Music and Culture in her work for the past 7 years.  Since the
inception of the Hip-Hop Therapy Project in 2004, Ms. Tillie-Allen has facilitated dozens of Hip-Hop
Therapy ® groups and workshops with youth and young adults at groups homes, schools, and
community organizations.  She has also presented the concept of Hip-Hop Therapy ® at dozens of
conferences, educational institutions, social agencies, and youth organizations all over the country,
including Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis, Denver, Albuquerque, and of course,
Milwaukee.

Ms. Tillie-Allen is heavily emerged in Hip-Hop culture.  She considers herself to be a Hip-Hop head.
She appreciates and enjoys all aspects (advocacy, education, dance, enterprise, knowledge, etc.) of the
culture, but is most affected by and embodies the underground and southern Hip-Hop music scene.  Her
favorite mainstream music artists include (but not limited to) Tupac, T.I, Ludacris, Talib Kweli, Baby,
Baby Drew, DJ Quik, Dr. Dre, Khia, Choice (old school), Geto Boys, 50 cent, Cassidy, Young Jeezy,
